Phil bought a golf bag for $340, if he got a %25 discount, how much did Phil pay for the golf bag?
My answer is $85, is that correct?
No not quite.
85 is 25% of 340. So he got an $85 discount. Meaning he pays 340 - 85 = 255
Alternatively, if he got a 25% discount, he paid 75% of the original price which is 340*(.75) = 255
